'Teenage Dream' tops Billboard Hot 100!

Even though Katy Perry's sophomore album "Teenage Dream" drops to #4 from #1 last week all is not lost as the title track dethrones the seven-week champ "Love The Way You Lie" by Eminem and Rihanna on the Billboard Hot 100 this week (with issue date September 18, 2010) as reported by Billboard.com. Coincidentally, "Love The Way You Lie" took over Katy Perry's six-week #1 song "California Gurls" on the Hot 100's top spot so they just took turns! Here is the list of this week's top 10 (full list of the Hot 100 will be posted tomorrow).
  1. Teenage Dream - Katy Perry
  2. Love The Way You Lie - Eminem feat Rihanna
  3. Dynamite - Taio Cruz
  4. Just The Way You Are - Bruno Mars (I'm rooting for this song to be the next #1)

Postscript: What I love about Paul Grein's Chart Watch column is that he answers fan inquiries about sales of songs/albums, old or new. One of the questions raised to him this week is an update of the sales of Green Day's 2009 album 21st Century Breakdown and he said that as of this week it already sold 989,000. I'm so glad that is just 11,000 copies away from hitting the 1 million mark because I would really want this album to hit that sales mark although it was not as popular as American Idiot (it produced two smash hits "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and "Wake Me Up When September Ends"), 21st Century Breakdown is still a good album and it did produce one hit single with 21 Guns (although not as successful as 'Boulevard' and 'Wake Me Up..' at least in the US as the song was a huge hit here in the Philippines)
