Billboard Hot 100 (Issue Date: February 19, 2011)

Whiz Khalifa's "Black and Yellow" ascends #4-#1 on this week's Billboard Hot 100. This is the rapper's first #1 and first Hot 100 entry. As I noted yesterday, the song became an anthem for the fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers who made it to the Superbowl XLV last Sunday (Feb.6) but lost to the Green Bay Packers. This song references Pitssburgh city and it looks like songs about cities are hitting it off as previous chartoppers Katy Perry's "California Gurls" (#1 for 6 weeks) and Jay-Z & Alicia Keys' "Empire State of Mind" (#1 for 5 weeks) have shown.

***

This week's top debut is Dr. Dre's new song "I Need a Doctor" which features Eminem & Skylar Grey. This is Dr. Dre's firs top 5 hit as a lead artist since 1995 when "Keep Their Heads Ringin'" peaked at #10. But as featured artist, Dr. Dre was part of Eminem's 2009 #1 single "Crack a Bottle".

***

The second highest entry comes from Chris Brown with "Look At Me Now" at #11. This is Chris Brown's third straight top 20 hit after "Deuces" peaked at #14 last year and "Yeah 3x" so far peaked at #15. The last time Chris Brown hit the top 10 was in 2008 when "Forever" peaked at #2.

***

After 38 weeks on the chart, Enrique Iglesias' "I Like It" drops out on the chart and went recurrent this week. It was last seen at #50 last week and peaked at #4. The longest chart sitter crown is now shared by "Dynamite" by Taio Cruz (down #25-#30) and "Animal" by Neon Trees (down #41-#47) with 36 weeks on the chart.

***

Also dropping out this week is Florence + The Machine's "Dog Days Are Over" which was last seen at #63 last week. It went recurrent this week as it already accumulated 20 weeks on the chart and charts below the top 50 already (with no rising airplay to save it). Anyway, the song peaked at #21.

Glee is back from hiatus and so are the tracks on the Hot 100 led by their cover of "Need You Now"at #72. Expect more Glee tracks invading the Hot 100 next as their currently dominating US iTunes
