Billboard Hot 100 (Issue Date: Oct. 20, 2012)

Maroon Five continues to rule the Billboard Hot 100 as One More Night logs its 4th consecutive week at #1 leaving PSY's Gangnam Style at #2 yet again. The race between Maroon Five and PSY has been a very close and competitive one but One More Night's lead in airplay is enough to keep it at #1. Can PSY catch up? Let's wait and see

Three new entries invade the top 10 this week! This is the second time that this happened in Billboard history and incidentally the first incident happened last March when Katy Perry's Part of Me (#1), Nicki Minaj's Starships (#9) and Chris Brown's Turn Up The Music (#10) all debuted inside the top 10 in the same week. This time the songs are One Direction's Live Like We're Young (#3), Taylor Swift's digital promo song Red (#6) and Adele's Skyfall (#8). This is the 2nd top 10 single for boyband sensation One Direction and beats the peak position of their breakthrough smash What Makes You Beautiful while this is the 4th top 10 for Adele (her other three songs that hit the top 10 reached all the way to #1). This is Adele's highest debut position ever and this is due to the anticipation of her first new material after the phenomenal success of 21 and also the theme song of the latest  Bond movie of the same title.

Meanwhile, Red is Taylor Swift's 13th top 10 song and her 10th track to debut in the top 10. Most Swift songs that enjoyed high debuts are shortlived because they are mostly promo singles that had huge opening sales but will dive in sales in Week #2 and no sufficient amount of airplay can sustain them. Of course there are songs which debuted high but managed to have longevity like Love Story and You Belong With Me.

Ellie Goulding's Lights and fun's We Are Young are still the longest charting songs on the chart with 42 weeks. The latter though is now down to #49 this week and could drop out and go recurrent next week.
